Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2025

BrushCam ("we", "us", "our") is designed to help families build healthy brushing habits. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. BrushCam is intended to be used under adult supervision; parents or legal guardians are responsible for creating and managing child profiles.

Information We Collect

  • Account information: Parent/guardian name, email address, and hashed password or social sign-in identifier.
  • Family profiles: Child names or nicknames, avatars/emojis, reward budgets, and brushing schedules set by the parent.
  • Brushing videos: Short videos recorded by the child in order to review brushing sessions. Videos are stored securely and automatically deleted after the retention window configured by the parent (default 7 days).
  • Usage data: Device/browser information, IP address, timestamps, and in-app actions (e.g., session approvals, reward payouts) used to provide core functionality and debug issues.

How We Use Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the BrushCam experience.
  • Allow parents to review brushing sessions, approve rewards, and monitor family activity.
  • Send transactional messages such as PIN reset emails or session status updates.
  • Protect the service from abuse, resolve technical issues, and comply with legal obligations.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal data. Information is shared only with:

  • Authorized family members who sign in using the parent account credentials and PIN.
  • Trusted service providers that host our infrastructure, authentication, or analytics (e.g., Supabase). These providers act on our behalf and follow strict security requirements.
  • Law enforcement or regulators if required by applicable law.

Children's Privacy & Parental Consent

BrushCam is directed to families with children under 13. A parent or legal guardian must create the account, supervise use, and consent to the recording of brushing sessions. If we learn that personal data was created without verified parental consent, we will delete it. Parents can control or delete child data from the dashboard or by contacting us.

Data Retention

Brushing videos are deleted automatically after the retention period configured in the parent dashboard (default 7 days). Account and reward history are stored while the family account remains active. Parents may request deletion of their account and associated data at any time.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure credential storage, role-based access, and regular monitoring. However, no system is fully secure. Parents should keep their login credentials and PIN confidential.

Your Choices

  • Adjust brushing schedules, retention periods, and reward budgets in the parent dashboard.
  • Delete individual brushing videos or child profiles at any time.
  • Request account deletion or data export by emailing our support team.
